THE POWER OF YOUR RESUME & COVER LETTER
Many of you guys already wonder why I chose to cover
this topic since the name of my blog is unique, beautiful, and healthy. I will
tell you that your resume and CV are definitely two things that make you
unique, and in this post, you will find out why.
Resume tells an employer “This is who I am, and this
is my experience.” This is one of the most important things, because if they
read it and they don’t find anything interesting, they will put it on the side
and never call you. A resume has to tell a story, a story that they will like,
and would want to hear more about. Every employer looks for different skills
depending on what the company needs. Resume is the document that represents us,
and it better be good. It is also important to use the keywords that are
connected and relevant for the job that we are applying for. Our resume should
always look neat and “pretty”, when I say pretty I mean that we should try to appeal
to our audience (in this case, the interviewer).
Cover letter is a less formal way of showing to
the employer who I am, why I am suitable for that particular position, and what
can I do for them. Cover letter is where you have a chance to appeal to them. Words
have weight and value, so that’s why we have to use them carefully and
effectively. Since cover letter and resume are the first step in applying for a
particular position, we have to put a lot of work and effort when writing them.
If the employer reads a cover letter, or a resume, and doesn’t like it, you
lose.
This is our chance to show that we are unique, and
to emphasize our strengths. Take all the time that you need, and put 100%
effort in. Show them how unique you are!
